A bold return from Sweat Equity founder Andrew Nerivano, refocusing his efforts after releases on Philly’s Embalming Lately and New York’s Godmode in the past year, as well as his first tour through Europe.

Nerviano settled down this spring to work through a range of recent material, recording the tracks that would become Spiritual Egg while working on a longer album project soon to be released on fellow New York label Cassava Piece. The result is a tightly focused series of compositions that serve as a fitting continuation of his negotiation between deep listening vibes and dance-floor trippers.

Spiritual Egg runs through a broad range of concepts and movements, from the twisted acid lines and evolving patterns of “Morphing Lattice,” to the jagged stabs and pounding rhythms of “Smoke Rings,” to the hellish warped vocals of interlude track “Sallow,” each time introducing concepts that evolve and change, warp and twist over the course of the record, but always remaining functional enough for the controllers in the DJ booth.
